2012 AFC Predictions

AFC East

1. New York Jets
2. New England Patriots
3. Miami Dolphins
4. Buffalo Bills

Analysis: Super Bowl hangover is going to be real for the Buffalo Bills who will plummet to the bottom of the division in the midst of their rebuild. Above them will be the Miami Dolphins, who continue to improve, but the division will come down to both the New York Jets and New England Patriots. I'm picking the Jets as I think GM Kevin Mullendore has spent too much time sitting right outside the playoffs (it's three years in a row I think).

AFC North

1. Baltimore Ravens
2. Cleveland Browns
3. Cincinnati Bengals
4. Pittsburgh Steelers

Analysis: Here we have another division where the reigning champ Pittsburgh Steelers plummet to the bottom of the division. New regression has taken hold and that means a complete re-work of the roster. I think the clear-cut favorite for the division has to be the Baltimore Ravens who appear to have finally finished their rebuild. I'm split on who takes second place between the Cleveland Browns and Cincinnati Bengals. I'm taking the Browns, but really, it could be either.

AFC South

1. Tennessee Titans
2. Indianapolis Colts
3. Jacksonville Jaguars
4. Houston Texans

Analysis: Mark Sanchez is one of the best quarterbacks under the age of 26 and I think that Apolo Shapiro will take this ragtag team of Tennessee Titans and win the division with them. The Indianapolis Colts will not go quietly, however. Their roster is stacked and they'll be in the hunt all season. The Jacksonville Jaguars are improving as well, but in a very tough division, someone has to be third. Last are the Houston Texans, who appear to have finally run out of their secret sauce.

AFC West

1. Oakland Raiders
2. Kansas City Chiefs
3. San Diego Chargers
4. Denver Broncos

Analysis: I'm done trying to predict when the demise of the Oakland Raiders will be. Garth Pearce has built a consistent juggernaut that can win a division that is extremely inconsistent. The Kansas City Chiefs have improved however and if Justin Herr can find the right gameplan, they should push for the playoffs. At the bottom are two teams that are in for rough seasons. I have the San Diego Chargers edging out the Denver Broncos purely because Denver will be starting Harnish. Otherwise, I'd trust Tom Collins.

AFC Playoff Seedings

1. Oakland Raiders
2. New York Jets
3. Tennessee Titans
4. Baltimore Ravens
5. New England Patriots
6. Indianapolis Colts
