GM Fired

Anthony Cepparulo - San Diego Chargers

Well, the wheels have really fallen off the bus in San Diego. Just a few years removed from a Super Bowl berth and with a young franchise center, they've all but secured the first pick in the next year's draft. They have informed their GM, however, that he will not be returning.

William Cook - Dallas Cowboys

It finally happened. There's a party in Washington and Tampa this evening with "We Are the Champions" playing on loud speakers. The Dallas Cowboys have fired GM William Cook, citing the inability to grow depth on the team to prepare against injuries.

Scott Gardiner - Detroit Lions

Scott was saved by the grace of his fellow GMs last year. This year, not so lucky. The Lions have cleared out his office and are already preparing for their next GM.

Fighting For Thier Job

Peter Fenger - San Francisco 49ers

A win in the final two weeks (and a .500 record) should be enough to keep Fenger in San Francisco for another season. There's also a small chance they make the playoffs and extend the contract, but things are looking pretty good for the 49ers GM.

Romeo Mendez - New York Giants

Not quite as lucky in New York. They've told their GM that he has to win out to stay in the Big Apple next year. Romeo, a life-time Giants fan would be devastated to go elsewhere, so planning and preparing for these last two games (and possibly winning the division) are very important.

On the Hot Seat in 2012

Justin Herr - Kansas City Chiefs

Saved by the QB injury exception, the Chiefs are going to be pivoting toward all-in next season to make the playoffs. There is, of course, the chance that the Chiefs GM decides to waive the exception and leave on his own volition, but the likelihood of that remains unseen.

Tim Miller - Pittsburgh Steelers

Pittsburgh is back on the hot seat, but the trade deadline acquisition of Andrew Luck has to make you wonder what the Steelers have planned for next season. Tim Miller will be on the hot seat, but it doesn't seem all that hot. He's been here before and always gets off.
