Each GM develops special relationships with their players, sometimes because drafted them, other because the player appeared in a key moment or sometimes we just like them.
On this article i’ll mention the player i consider “Franchise player” of each GM. It doesn’t mean the GM and the player are currently together, and i might miss someone from the first 5 seasons i wasn’t in the league, but the article is for fun so let’s go.
Felipe, Anthony F and Shah Kahn won’t be included on the article for obvious reasons, but love you guys.
GM Brandon Lingren - QB Jake Delhomme (Acquired Via Trade)
Jake Delhomme became an special player at Buffalo, he not only saved Brandon’s job but he lead the team to a SB on his last season at the league, he couldn’t win it all as faced an strong Bears team, but he extended 3 yrs Brandon’s contract and gave the Bills the best season so far. Im kicking off this article with a player only played 2 seasons with the GM, but i consider this a case of quality over quantity. Im sure whenever someone mentions Delhomme in Buffalo it brings an smile to their fans.
Other players considered here: WR Johnnie Morant - MLB Jonathan Vilma - RT Wes Sims
GM Daren Roberts - SS Ben Emanuel (Drafted 1.17 at 2005 Draft)
The Dolphins are a team with so much talent, and so many special players on their history that is hard to select just one. And i went with someone might not be the most popular choice but a player that have played all his career at Miami, and have survived rebuilds, and the arrival of new studs. Daren always have been confident at Ben Emanuel, and have been a player is a keeper on the roster. Dolphins had multiple 1st during the last seasons, and that Emanuel kept his job all these years is the guarantee he’s considered a leader for Dolphins. With 8 seasons and 580 tackles. Emanuel is my pick for Daren.
Other players considered here: MLB Nick Barnett - CB Aqib Talib - WR Calvin Johnson - QB Tim Couch
GM Briston Redford - HB Doug Martin (Drafted 1.23 at 2012 Draft)
Briston took over an already build Patriots team and he took the best decision he could, not to destroy the team over a rebuild process, instead he has added quality rookies over the seasons, adding players fills an spot and makes team stronger. For Briston im picking last draft 1st round pick HB Doug Martin, i do consider he had a very good rookie season and he was on the nominees for OROY, i think Martin has the right attributes for being a top HB on the league and he plays on a team with a legacy running the ball. Martin and GM Redford should have wonderful moments together.
Other players considered here: QB Tom Brady - TE Jordan Cameron - DT Frank Okam - CB Jimmy Smith
GM Kevin Mullendore - HB Michael Turner (Drafted 1.22 at 2004 Draft)
The Jets and GM Mullendore have been one of the most winners combinations, a lot of good players have played there, but personally had no problem choosing 1 here. HB Turner have been the soul and heart of the Jets offense since was drafted. Turner is probably one of the most underated players on the league considered how important he is for his team. Im not sure if he’ll end #1 on the total stats, with a player named Musa and with new regression affecting Turner. But he’ll end his career as one of the best HB’s to play on the SFL. He was a fundamental piece on that Jets team won the championship. For all those reason picking Turner as the Mullendore’s Franchise player.
Other players considered here: WR Steve Smith - QB Jake Plummer - CB Charles Woodson - DL Jesse Mahelona
