2013 SFL Mock Draft | Pre Free Agency

PICKTEAMPLAYERANALYSIS
1.01

RE Dion JordanAny questions about who the Texans go out the window with the recent announcement that Robert Quinn is being sent to the San Francisco 49ers. Jordan is a once in a generation athelete and we haven't really seen a player like him in any draft class yet.
1.02

WR Justin HunterTennessee may have just made the big trade for Jonathan Baldwin -- which made me think that Hunter is out for this selection, but then I remembered that this is GM Apolo Shapiro. Baldwin and Hunter are going to get paired together.
1.03

CB Xavier RhodesI would be ecstatic if the draft fell this way. I don't love the idea of having two young cornerbacks starting together in my secondary, but four years down the road, it would be well worth it. Rhodes is a stud and worthy of consideration.
1.04

SS Shawn WilliamsThis isn't a name that's been thrown around a lot, but I wouldn't be surprised to see the Saints take an early swing at a player like Shawn Williams. Even if it's not New Orleans, he is going to be going off the board a lot sooner than people expect.
1.05

CB David AmersonThere are a few ways that I could see this selection going -- Amerson, Robert Woods, or Michael Mauti. In the end, I think that GM Bryan Mellon won't be able to ignore a 21-year old 6'3" cornerback, even if his AGI is low.
1.06

WR Robert WoodsI think Buffalo is really hoping that Amerson drops to them, but with the evil Emperor in front of them, they have to settle for an elite talent like Robert Woods. That's a pretty solid consolation prize, especially if they want to build for the future.
1.07

WR DeAndre HopkinsEvery year, we begin to see a run on either wide receivers, cornerbacks or both (okay, last year it was quarterbacks). Hopkins is the best receiver remaining and Kansas City is looking to build up again with a new GM. I like the fit.
1.08

DT Johnathan HankinsWhile the Dolphins may elect to draft someone like Cordarrelle Patterson, they do need to shore up their defensive line a little. With that being the case, Hankins looks like the best fit. He looks good and is large and with a good skew, could be a difference maker.
1.09

LG Chance WarmackThe biggest knock on Warmack is his AGI, but I don't know if GM Darryl Breckheimer cares about that in an offensive guard. Outside of that, he appears to be a stud ready to play right away which is what he's looking for in Indianapolis.
1.10

QB Tyler WilsonBreck is on the record of saying the QBs are "bad" this year -- which obviously means he wants one, right? We can't believe a word he says! David Carr is about to retire and Ryan Mallett isn't the future. It's possible he sees a future for the strong-arm Tyler Wilson.
1.11

RG Larry WarfordIt's not common that interior linemen are drafted before the offensive tackles, but there are some solid offensive guards this season. Warford could make an immediate impact on the Redskins offensive line. It's a no brainer.
1.12

WR Cordarelle PattersonThe Rams have stated they only have a couple players they envision on their team long-term. The first is John David Booty, which means that new GM Felipe Santos will definitely want to prioritize receivers for him -- Patterson fits the bill.
1.13

RT D.J. FlukerThis may actually be a little late for Fluker, but I'm also not sure he's the target here. GM Tom Collins may prioritize a cornerback like DeMarcus Milliner. However, at the end of the day, I think Fluker is the correct pick for the Broncos.
1.14

LG Oday AboushiThis team doesn't have many holes on it. One of those is offensive guard and Aboushi is raw, but should be able to play right away. His ACC is out of this world and he should be a long-term starter if progressed correctly. I think they have to take him.
1.15

MLB Michael MautiMLBs typically drop in our drafts (likely since they can't get moved around to other positions). Mauti is too good to last this long and the Texans will scoop him up, solidifying their defense between him and Dion Jordan who they selected earlier.
1.16

LE Ezekiel AnsahThis is about where the draft begins to get difficult. It's very top heavy with a whole bunch of players that make you say "I think I can make them work." Ansah starts to fit into that mold, but the Patriots should be able to use him.
1.17

CB DeMarcus MillinerMilliner's drop finally ends. The Rams already added a wide receiver, so now it's time for them to add some cornerback depth. Milliner is young and could easily turn into a lock down cornerback in this league given the chance to start.
1.18

TE Tyler EifertNow, this selection is very private workout dependent, but it's the type of player I could see GM Kevin Mullendore coveting, especially if his speed goes higher. He's strong, fairly smart, tall, and speedy. Just the type of player that has brought the trophy to New York in the past.
1.19

LT Eric FisherThe Brett Williams era is over in Jacksonville and they have to replace him in this draft. Luckily, offensive tackles will potentially drop in this draft, due to the depth at the position. Picking up Fisher at 1.19 has to be a dream come true.
1.20

HB Latavius MurrayGM Brent Lachapelle loves Cedric Cobbs, and rightfully so. But even he may realize that it's time to find the heir apparent. Murray looks very similar to Cobbs and will likely be able to replicate his success from day one. I wouldn't be surprised to see this pick.
1.21

CB Desmond TrufantIt would be odd to see Mullendore have multiple picks and not select a cornerback of the future. This comes down to Trufant and Darius Slay and I think the former is a better fit for the New York roster. He's more ready to play right now.
1.22

LE Bjoern WernerThere's always a chance that the Jets look for some defensive line depth in the draft and the talent seems to have begun to fall off. Werner may possibly be the best remaining (I don't think Kevin tackes a gamble on Lavar Edwards).
1.23

CB Darius SlayWe mock GM Rock Hewko endlessly, but at the end of the day he puts it out on the field and wins. Slay seems like the type of player to fit the mold for the Seattle defense and would probably get a bit of a chance to start from day one.
1.24

DT Sylvester WilliamsThe Ravens resurgence has been fun to watch (unless you share a division with him). At this point, it's adding the right pieces to continue to win and a player like Sylvester Williams seems like he should be able to be just that.
1.25

WR Keenan AllenGM Brady Tinnin has been known to roll the dice and have it work out. I like Allen's potential and I think he's a perfect fit for the Cincinnati offense, especially if he skews up. He should do well there and this just feels "right."
1.26

RT J.C. TretterPhiladelphia's moves so far this offseason have been controversial at least. They do need to bulk their offensive line up if they expect Nick Foles to perform for their team. Tretter is raw (and should be moved to LT to start), but could get the job done.
1.27

LOLB DeVonte HollomanI'm not a fan of the OLBs in this draft, but the Saints will need one. GM Nathan Jones has had success with less sexy linebackers drafted around this area in the past, so he may be looking to replicate some success. Holloman seems the best bet.
1.28

LT David BakhtiariThis could be a wide receiver, but I think offensive line is a better bet for the defending champions. Bakhtiari looks as if he can start right away and while he's not "elite" in any attribute, he's "very consistent" in almost all of them.
1.29

WR Terrance WilliamsIf Williams skews up, this is a perfect grab for the Vikings. They're about to enjoy Daunte Culpepper's last rodeo, so they've got to go all out. Adding another tall, speedy wide receiver seems like the thing to do if they want to win.
1.30

RT Menelik WatsonAnother offensive lineman for our resident offensive lineman? I say so -- you go what you're comfortable with. In addition, Watson would fill a pretty good hole on the Panthers roster and be able to start immediately.
1.31

QB Matt BarkleyI know something is in the works to get a QB to the Dallas Cowboys, but until I see it on paper, I have to assume the Cowboys will be drafting a QB. Also -- everyone hates the Cowboys right? Gosh, I can't even imagine what type of person would be willing to GM this team!
1.32

RT Ricky WagnerThe Cowboys are rebuilding, so you go with BPA when you can. They don't necessarily need another offensive lineman, but Wagner has to be considered as this point as he's quite a competitive player and should be a beast for years to come.
