***2018 Oakland Raiders Season Review***
What more can I say to this season other than... WOW! I didn't think once this season that we'd miss the playoffs for the 5th straight year with the players we have I feel embarrassed that we couldn't get this group to the big dance and in turn now we're going on to our 4th team after being canned 3 other times... BRUTAL and again, embarrasing!
I'm not sure which teams if any will be entering protocol other than the Steelers and Jaguars as it looks like a landslide win for the Saints to get their team back and good for nathan, I wish you luck!
*2018 OFFENSE*
POINTS- 23.7 (16th in the league)
TOTAL OFFENSE - 358.8 (10th in the league)
PASSING OFFENSE- 252.4 (9th in the league)
RUSHING OFFENSE- 106.4 (20th in the league)
FIRST DOWN CONV- 14.4 (Tied for 11th in the league)
3RD DOWN CONV- 80 (Tied for 13th in the league)
PASSING TOUCHDOWNS- 23 (Tied for 23rd in the league)
RUSHING TOUCHDOWNS- 15 (Tied for 5th in the league)
REVIEW:
So what did me in was the passing game, QB Chad Henne was just not efficient enough this season and hasn't been for us in quite awhile unfortunately. I've constantly tried new game plans, mixing up WR but nothing would help his pass efficiency unfortunately. The run game lead by C.J. Ham was efficient, his yardage was up, his ypc average was decent , he had double digit touchdowns but we weren't great along the goaline, plus his fumbles were a detriment. The OL as a whole was pretty solid in front of henne, no complaints there. The WR did a decent job of getting open but like I said, Chad Henne was having a tough time getting the ball out to them. Special teams were down a bit from last season also
*2018 DEFENSE*
TOTAL POINTS- 22.5 (12th in the league)
TOTAL DEFENSE- 324.7 (10th in the leaguie)
PASSING DEFENSE- 227.9 (17th in the league)
RUSHING DEFENSE- 96.8 (7th in the league)
INTERCEPTIONS- 22 (Tied for 6th in the league)
FUMBLES RECOVERED- 14 (Tied for 11th in the league)
SACKS- 32 (Tied for 16th in the league)
The defense definitely seemed to hold their own this season and kept us in alot of battles being in almost the top 10 in a bunch of categories. Our pass defense was our achiles heel this year ranking just below mid tier in that category, plus once again even with this beefed up DL we were only able to muster less then mid tier in sacks also which always seems to be a problem for us from season to season again switching up game plans but no effect on the sack totals. |

Offensive Overview:
We retained 12/13 starters on the offense, replacing solid LG Mike Johnson with another solid player in Branden Albert so we really shouldn't skip a beat there. Star QB Chad henne returns after being injured late in the year last season. RB C.J. Ham is a year wiser, we expect big things from him in year 2. WR Mike Williams was the slot WR last year mostly but really did well so he get's the nod as WR1 while Clay continues his dominance on the outside opposite him with Geremy Davis penciled in the slot. Touch down Tommy Bohanon will be starting his 6th season as the starting TE. The OL all stays in tact LT Greg Robinson, OC Bryan Stork, RG james Carpenter, LT Ben Ijilana all will be protecting Henne once again but newly added Branden Albert will be the starting LG. Special teams ace K Andrew jensen comes back for what could be his fianl season.

Defensive Overview:
We retain 9/13 starters from last years squad but some changes needed to be made to get this defense on par with the offense. At CB a tough decision had to be made, so we let stud CB Dontae Johnson go and brought in Chimdi Chekwa, Stephone Gilmore will still be CB 1 with Marlon Humphrey at NCB. At safety FS Jamoris Slaughter returns but gets a new face alongside him in veteran Chad Jones who we managed in Philly. All LB's return in LOLB Paul Dawson, ILB Paul Worrilow and the only non Paul is Kyle Wilber in at ROLB. We have several new faces along the DL in cluding RE Kendrick Ellis who replaces Terrance Knighton and LE Derek Wolfe who replaces Derrick Harvey, both DT John Jenkins, Will Sutton return as well. Stud rookie P Colby Wadman now enters year 2 and that season will be hard to top but looking forward to him booming more kicks all year round.
SPECIAL TEAMS
KR
WR Tyreek Hill (84 OVR)
PR
WR Dwayne Jarrett (87 OVR)
Special Teams Overview:
Tyreek Hill returns to his KR duties while free agent WR Dwayne Jarrett will start as a PR for the first time and we'll see how it goes, he's going to be fun to see teams trying to tackle his 6'5" frame each week.
***FREE AGENCY***
LG Branden Albert
HT: 6'5"
WT: 314 lbs.
AGE: 32
College: Virginia
OVR: 93
Attributes:
SPD 59 STR 91 AWR 86 AGI 68 ACC 71 PBK 86 RBK 95
REASON:
Albert is still starter material in my opinion. He still has the tools to be a dominant road grader on our OL, his AWR is welcomed. Is blocking skills are both borderine elite and his STR is still great despite his regression so this was a no brainer, Chad Henne approves this message!
WR Dwayne Jarrett
HT: 6'5"
WT: 210 lbs.
AGE: 32
College: USC
OVR: 89
Attributes:
SPD 88 STR 49 AWR 97 AGI 82 ACC 89 CTH 95 JMP 83
REASON:
Dwayne still has it for 1 more season, his large frame will make him ideal on punt returns and in the redzone. I've always liked Jarrett and he's had quite a career on the Ravens. I don't think he'll get a ton of playing time but if there is an injury or 2 I feel much better having him on the roster than not having him on it.
LT Mike McGlinchey
HT: 6'8"
WT: 315 lbs.
AGE: 22
College: Notre Dame
OVR: 71
Attributes:
SPD 53 STR 87 AWR 58 AGI 55 ACC 56 PBK 88 RBK 80
REASON:
He's just a cheap filler behind Greg Robinson. I really like his size at 6'8" 315 lbs. and other than his athletic ability which he doesn't have much of, he fairly strong, decent starting foorball AWR and decent blocking skills as a rookie.
***TRADE***
RB Lamar Miller
HT: 5'11"
WT: 212 lbs.
AGE: 29
College: Miami
OVR: 93
Attributes:
SPD 94 STR 70 AWR 60 AGI 95 ACC 96 CTH 73 CAR 91 BTK 99
Trades RB Mike Gilislee, TE Lance Kendricks to the in exchange for RB Lamar Miller
REASON:
This deal works out for both teams, the Lions get a bit of cap relief while filling another roster spot and there wasn't much to like in free agency and for us we have a solid veteran RB behind Ham who can teach him the ropes or in case of an injury he can come right in and start if need be as he's been quite productive over the years. |

2018 OAKLAND RAIDERS SFL DRAFT CLASS |
OAKLAND RAIDERS 2018 SFL DRAFT CLASS
1.28- SS Terrell Edmunds
HT: 6'1"
WT: 217 lbs.
AGE: 22
College: Virginia Tech
OVR: 73
Private Workout:
SPD 92 STR 58 AWR 56 AGI 87 ACC 91 CTH 64 JMP 72 TAK 69
Actual Skew:
SPD 92 STR 60 AWR 56 AGI 85 ACC 91 CTH 64 JMP 71 TAK 69
+2 STR, -2 AGI, -1 JMP
I'm glad the athletic ability didn't get messed with accept for AGI which I don't think matters at all for the position, his JMP went down 1 but was pedestrian there anyways and again I've had players with 90's and still lose JMP balls so not sure it's a big deal. I like everything else about him and he's the future at SS with a chance to be SPD 95/ ACC 94 which is amongst the elites.
5.7- CB Taron Johnson
HT: 5'11"
WT: 192 lbs.
AGE: 22
College: Weber State
OVR: 71
Private Workout:
SPD 96 STR 78 AWR 54 AGI 86 ACC 94 CTH 50 JMP 75 TAK 63
Actual Skew:
SPD 96 STR 77 AWR 54 AGI 86 ACC 94 CTH 50 JMP 75 TAK 63
-1 STR
Really excited for Johnson and gives us a solid 4th corner in coverage that can close out at 99 SPD/97 ACC, his AWR is definitely workable and still has decent height at 5'11". For a 5th rounder I'm pretty ecstatic on how he turned out.
5.19- CB Parry Nickerson
HT: 6'0"
WT: 180 lbs.
AGE: 22
College: Tulane
OVR: 68
Private Workout:
SPD 94 STR 50 AWR 52 AGI 83 ACC 96 CTH 51 JMP 89 TAK 58
Actual Skew:
SPD 94 STR 49 AWR 52 AGI 81 ACC 96 CTH 51 JMP 87 TAK 58
-1 STR, -2 AGI, -2 JMP
Parry Nickerson went down a bit in a few areas but I'm again ecstatic to land a player of his caliber in round 5. Parry's STR, AGI and JMP all went down but nothing significant, he will contend with Johnson for the 4th and 5th corners spots on the roster as the rest are filled. I feel really good about the secondary moving forward, the depth behind Humphrey, Gilmore, Chekwa and Jones is significantly better after this draft in my opinion.
6.6- LG Terrell Bush
HT: 6'4"
WT: 311 lbs.
AGE: 22
College: Furman
OVR: 71
Scouting Report:
SPD 55 STR 97 AWR 44 AGI 67 ACC 72 PBK 76 RBK 81
Actual Skew:
SPD 55 STR 99 AWR 42 AGI 65 ACC 76 PBK 77 RBK 79
+2 STR, -2 AWR, -2 AGI, +4 ACC, +1 PBK, -2 RBK
Who doesn't like Bush? He went up to 99 STR which is awesome, his brute STR makes him so much less of a liability. His SPD stayed the same which was great, his AGI went down 2 which kind of sucked but +4 on ACC, his blocking skills are average but he's the backup and depth at the interior OL so I'm real happy how he turned out.
6.19- RG Rod Taylor
HT: 6'3"
WT: 320 lbs.
AGE: 23
College: Ole Miss
OVR: 73
Private Workout:
SPD 59 STR 94 AWR 51 AGI 61 ACC 63 PBK 81 RBK 84
Actual Skew:
SPD 58 STR 93 AWR 51 AGI 60 ACC 66 PBK 79 RBK 82
-1 SPD, -1 STR, -1 AGI, +3 ACC, -2 PBK, -2 RBK
This 1 kind of sucked as he went down in SPD, STR, AGI, PBK and RBK which are pretty much all of the OL main attributes. If he's starting then all hell has broken lose as far as injuries anyways and the season is probably in turmoil so i hope I don't see these guys in my lineup anytime soon but I'm happy the way everything fell for us. |

Oakland Raiders- Offseason/Trades/FA/Draft |
OFFSEASON:
So finishing 9-7 and missing out on the playoffs meant changes needed to be made. So we've made the necessary moves or at least what we think were the necessary moves that we think will help us now and in the long run via trades and free agency. The moves we made did a number on our draft picks but it's the price you pay when you're trying to put a roster together that can win it all.
TRADES:
The trade 1.21 (MIA) to the for LE Derek Wolfe and 4.30 (DET)
REASON:
We really liked Derek Harvey's play last season but he's in regression and we didn't want to use up unnecessary cap space, after we re-sign a few of our players and the draft there won't be a ton of money to spend so we wanted to invest wisely. I love the fact that I can put Wolfe in any scheme fit whether it be 3-4 or 4-3 etc. He's a big dude at 6'5" 286 lbs., his 90 STR is very impressive, he isn't a speed demon or anything but he uses his brute force and bull rushes to man handle the opposition.
STATLINE: 33 Tackles, 8 TFL, 11 Sacks, 1 FR
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The trade 2.19 (OAK), 2019 3rd round pick (OAK) to the for CB Chimdi Chekwa and 2019 5th round pick (DAL)
REASON:
The main reason is that if we lost CB Dontae Johnson in match eligible free agency that Chekwa could be his replacement. They have very similar attributes although Chekwa is 4 years his elder. We liked his production and he'll start alongside of Gilmore now that Johnson has moved on to Pittsburgh. We traded 2.19 and a future 3rd which is a decent amount for a 30 year old in regression but he can help and play at a high level this year and thats what we needed so it was definitely worth it.
STATLINE: 20 Tackles, 2 TFL, 1 Forced Fumble, 2 INT, 1 pick 6, 8 DEF, 11 CTHA
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The trade LG Mike Johsnon, SS James Sample to the for SS Chad Jones
REASON:
Behind the scenes I've been trying to get S Chad Jones for some time now from Philly. He was really good for me when I was the Eagles GM, seemed to make some big plays when we needed them and that's what we lacked in the secondary last year. He's now on the verge of regression but he still has some fight left in him. I really like his 6'3" 225 lbs frame, his 97 AWR is a huge plus also and with Chekwa now in the fold I really feel like we revamped the secondary.
STATLINE: 63 Tackles, 2 TFL, 2 Forced Fumbles, 1 INT, 14 DEF, 11 CTHA
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The trade CB Jamell Fleming, 6.19 (OAK) to the for 4.28 (IND)
REASON:
I really like Jamell Fleming, I think he's a solid all around corner in this league. I drafted him when i was with the Eagles and he's been nothing but a solid player for us. Last year Dontae Johnson went down and Humphrey took his #2 corner slot while Fleming took over the NCB position and did well even getting a defensive TD but unfortunately after the signing of Chekwa there was just too much money in the position so his services will be better off in Indy.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The trade 4.30 (DET) to the for RE Kendrick Ellis
REASON:
I've liked Kendrick Ellis since his draft day , his 6'5" 340 lbs. frame makes him very scheme versatile. I can't find any stats for him weirdly but I know he'll make an impact alongsid Derek Wolfe, John Jenkins and Will Sutton that I'm 100% sure of. I'm just hoping this will finally get me over that defensive slump I've been in where it seems no matter what playbook I pick I can't seem to get to the QB at all.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
FREE AGENCY
This years free agency was pretty uneventful, it was more or less about signing our own guys. We did put out a contract to our ex RB Terrance West but the Jets gave him an offer he couldn't refuse so he stays with them. Here is how the rest of FA shook out.
We lost CB Dontae Johnson to the , he was our match eligible free agent and signed with the Steelers for 83.26M, 33.3M signing bonus
REASON:
It was very hard to lose a player like Johnson, he was a home grown corner who I drafted and developed, he's super productive, tall, I felt he was starting to come into his own but that is QB money that he recieved. The cap will go down next season and I didn't want to take on that burdon of trying to make it work so I took the compensation and I feel he's going to a really good home in Pittsburgh.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We re-signed OC Bryan Stork - 6'3" 306 lbs., 89 OVR, 25 years old
45 Pancakes, 3 Sacks Allowed
5 years 17.99M, 3.4M Signing Bonus
REASON:
Much like Dontae Johnson I believe Bryan Stork is just about to come into his own as a top notch C in the SFL, some may see C as a position that you can just throw a body there and your set but as a person watching each and every position closely I can tell you that is not true. It may not need an elite talent in that spot but it's definitely beneficial to have a great one. I definitely think he's on the verge of becoming elite so this was an easy re-sign at a pretty decent price.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We re-signed LE Taylor Hart - 6'5" 292 lbs., 80 OVR, 26 years old
2 Tackles, 1 Sack
3 years 5.07M, 690K Signing Bonus
REASON:
He's just depth but I really like his size, he isn't all that fast but in very limited spot duty he has 2 sacks. He was a fairly cheap signing which I like right now. This doesn't hinder us in any way but you can't have too much solid depth on your roster.
THE 2018 DRAFT
The draft will be held this Thursday and as usual we'll be looking forward to it. We have no 1st round picks this year....YET.... But we're working on it. We currently own picks 4.28, 5.19, 6.6 and 6.31. Nothing too inspiring but maybe we can save those private workouts when everyone will have already burned theirs and we can find some diamonds in the rough. |

2017 Oakland Raiders Season In Review |
OAKLAND RAIDERS 2017 SEASON REVIEW
(9-7)
The Oakland raiders finish 9-7 to close out the season, a win against the Baltimore Ravens and we clinch the #2 seed in the playoffs or a loss and hit the golf course early. We took it all the way to OT and got ourselves in FG range only to miss a 49 yarder and the Ravens drive down the field and score a TD. What a terrible finish on the season and this game as we started off 7-1 and much like my year in the MFL where the Steelers squad went 8-0 and then losing every remaining game to miss the playoffs and this season brought back the same nightmares. But we are a resilient bunch, now we'll just look to see what we can do to win this whole thing once again going back to the drawing board.
OFFENSE
Total Offense- 380.5 (5th in the SFL)
Total Passing Yards- 274.1 (3rd in the SFL)
Total Rushing Yards- 106.4 (14th in the SFL)
Total Passing TD- 27 (10th in the SFL)
Total Rushing TD- 11 (Tied for 8th in the SFL)
Total 1st Downs- 14.7 (Tied for 6th in the SFL)
3rd Down Conversion- 79 (Tied for 11th in the SFL)
The offense finished in the top 10 in almost all statistical categories. Henne was an absolut monster for us the 1st 7 games then we had a weird game against the Eagles and never seemed to regain the offensive juggernaught status that we were in the 1st half of the season. We tried different playbooks, moving the WR's to different spots but nothing seemed to click for some odd reason. The 1 bright spot was that C.J. Ham really looked dominant towards the end so we wont have to rely so heavily on Henne this coming season.
DEFENSE
Total Points Allowed- 23.9 (Tied for 17th in the SFL)
Total Yards Allowed- 384.4 (31st in the SFL)
Total Passing Yards Allowed- 282.8 (32nd in the SFL)
Total Rush Yards Allowed- 101.6 (Tied for 15th in the SFL)
Total Sacks- 30 (Tied for 11th in the SFL)
Total Takeaways INT/FR- 25 (Tied for 8th in the SFL)
I'm so disappointed in the defense this season, adding Marlon Humphrey to the secondary, adding both Derrick Harvey and Terrance Knighton to the DL I thought for sure would be the final pieces to get to the playoffs and beyond and although both played well there still wasnt enough pressure and we got absolutely lit up in the passing game once again. So again we'll have to figure this shit out and hope we make the right choices once again.
SPECIAL TEAMS
Field Goals- 47 out of 50 FGM- (1st in the SFL)
Punting- 63 Punts for 2,905 yards, 46.11 Punt AVG- (4th in the SFL)
Special teams was top notch in the regular season, P Colby Wadman had an unbelievable year punting the ball and should only get better going forward. K Andrew jensen was money all season until the last game where he missed an automatic 49 yard FG to lose the game in OT against the Baltimore Ravens.
ROOKIE WATCH
CB Marlon Humphrey
50 Tackles, 2 TFL, 2 Sacks, 1 FR, 3 INT for 97 Yards, 1 TD (pick six), 17 DEF, 32 CTHA
WR Mike Williams
50 Receptions, 781 Yards, 15.62 YPC Average, 63 Long, 8 TD, 6 Drops
P Colby Wadman
63 Punts, 2,905 Yards, 46.11 Punt Average, 73 Long, Punts Inside the 20- 19, Touchbacks- 18
SS Obi Melifonwu
9 Tackles
RB Joe Mixon
1 CAR, 2 Yards
The 2017 rookie class was a big part of our season, WR Mike Williams played from ever position as WR1, WR2 and in the slot in year 1 and had a solid season racking in 8 TD passes. CB Marlon Humphrey was called upon early to take over for the injured Dontae Johnson as the CB2 for most of the season and seemed to hold his own. P Colby Wadman had an outstanding rookie season with hos big time leg. Both Mixon and Melifonwu were depth players and haven't really seen much action in year 1.
2018 DRAFT
We own the following draft picks... 1st (MIA), 2nd (OAK), 5th (OAK), 6th (OAK), 7th (OAK), 7th (DET), 7th (NE) |
