Week 2 - Baltimore Ravens at Cincinnati Bengals 17-20 |
Week 2: Baltimore Ravens at Cincinnati Bengals 17-20
In the matchup between the Ravens and Bengals, despite the Bengals dominating in terms of first downs (20 vs. 11) and total offense (391 yards vs. 292 yards), the game remained competitive. The Ravens struggled with third-down conversions, achieving only one out of nine attempts, indicating the Bengals' defensive resilience.
However, the Bengals capitalized in the red zone, converting two touchdowns from three opportunities. The game's critical aspect was the rushing performance, with the Bengals outpacing the Ravens with 193 rushing yards, contributing significantly to their time of possession advantage and overall game control.
Player performances:
- Jimmy Garoppolo had a slightly better game compared to the last one. 75.8 rating with 1 TD and 1 INT.
- Alshon Jeffery had some efficiency, 4 catches for 64 yards. Similar to Zay Jones who had 3 catches for 61 yards. Our FB Jamize Olawale had a nice long, 61-yard TD catch.
- Jonathan Hankins added another sack as an NT.
- The new defensive playbook worked its magic again with Antone Exum Jr collecting a sack.
Rookie watch:
Phillip Lindsay ran for 73 yards, 3.65 average yards per carry.
Royce Freeman no carries.
Dallas Goedert had another quiet day, with 1 catch for 2 yards.
New additions:
Josh Robinson allowed 3 catches with 1 deflection, 5 tackles.
C. J. Mosley had 12 tackles and 1 for a loss, due to the Bengals running game.
Stephon Tuitt is not enjoying the 3-4 scheme recording only 2 tackles.
The sadness captured on this picture after the game. Our CB Sidney Jones stole one of the Bengals player's helmet, driven by sheer anger.

Week 1 - Baltimore Ravens at New York Jets 19-10 |
Week 1: Ravens at Jets 19-13
Despite the Jets having the players of the game for both offense and defense, the Ravens managed to secure the win. The game was closely contested, as seen by the similar total offensive yards (241 for Ravens vs. 217 for Jets) and passing yards (116 for Ravens vs. 115 for Jets). However, the Ravens outperformed the Jets in rushing yards (125 vs. 102) and first downs (15 vs. 10), which might have contributed to their victory.
The game was relatively low-scoring, with both teams' defenses limiting the scoring opportunities. The Ravens made a significant comeback in the fourth quarter, scoring 13 points to secure the win after trailing in the third quarter.
The turnovers played a crucial role, with the Ravens having 3 turnovers compared to the Jets' 1. However, the Ravens were able to overcome these mistakes and still win the game, which indicates a strong performance in other areas.
Both teams struggled with their third-down conversions, with the Ravens converting 5 out of 14 (35.71%) and the Jets converting 3 out of 13 (23.08%). This suggests that both defenses were effective in crucial situations.
Player performances:
- Jimmy Garoppolo had a horrible game with the passing rating of 23.1, two interceptions.
- Our star receiver Alshon Jeffery had a quiet game due to the weak QB play. Positive note here is that Zay Jones stepped up and collected 52 yards from 4 catches.
- Jonathan Hankins started his NT career with 2 sacks just like Jonathan Allen which justifies the switch to 3-4 defensive scheme.
- The new defensive playbook made some interesting plays possible such as Antone Exum Jr attacking the QB. He collected 2 sacks from this play.
Rookie watch:
Phillip Lindsay had an excellent first day with 106 yds from 24 carries, 4.42 avg. Since he is a rookie the usual fumble occured as well.
Royce Freeman currently is the 3rd string HB, 1 carries for 1 yard.
Dallas Goedert had a quiet day, 2 catches for 24 yds.
New additions:
Josh Robinson the TD was on him, losing Little for a 28 yard TD catch. Other than tha solid game 3 deflections, 2 catches allwoe, 5 tackles.
C. J. Mosley started his Ravens career with 4 tackles.
Stephon Tuitt had a relatively quiet day with only 2 tackles.
Bacarri Rambo our new backup FS had a solid game with one interception and 2 deflections.

Breaking News: Ravens Refine Gameplan |
Breaking News: Ravens Refine Gameplan, Embracing Ground Attack with Jets-Inspired Playbook
The Baltimore Ravens are fine-tuning their gameplan, enhancing their run-focused offense in the style of the New York Jets' playbook. The evolution in strategy underscores a commitment to a robust ground game, setting the stage for potential deep passing opportunities once the run is firmly established. This adjustment on offense builds upon existing strengths, indicating a strategic enhancement rather than an overhaul.
By reinforcing the run, the Ravens aim to create a dynamic and unpredictable offense that can capitalize on weakened defenses. This refined approach seeks to maximize the strategic advantages gained from a powerful running attack, allowing for a more controlled and deliberate offensive progression.
Defensively, the team is also making a calculated adjustment by shifting to a 3-4 formation. The defensive playbook, inspired by the Pittsburgh Steelers, is tailored to fortify the Ravens' run defense, a move that is particularly strategic when facing run-heavy teams such as the New York Jets.
As the season unfolds, the Ravens' adjusted offensive and defensive strategies will be put to the test, with the team looking to leverage their enhanced ground game and fortified defense to outmaneuver the competition. |

Ravens' Offseason Overhaul |
Ravens' Offseason Overhaul: Strategic Acquisitions and System Shifts
The Baltimore Ravens have been busy this offseason, making a series of calculated moves aimed at bolstering their defense and optimizing their roster for a newly adopted 3-4 system. Here's a comprehensive look at the post-draft free agency signings, notable trades, and strategic shifts that are shaping the Ravens' approach to the upcoming season.
Post-Draft Free Agency Additions
RE Stephon Tuitt
Attributes: SPD: 74, STR: 71, AWR: 61, AGI: 83, ACC: 88, JMP: 62, TAK: 76
Ranked: 8th among REs
MLB C.J. Mosley
Attributes: SPD: 84, STR: 76, AWR: 75, AGI: 86, ACC: 89, CTH: 66, JMP: 78, TAK: 93
Ranked: 41st among MLBs
Upon a thorough reassessment of our roster, the need for a formidable Right End became apparent. In exploring the Free Agency market, Stephon Tuitt caught my eye, presenting himself as an exceptional find. It felt akin to striking gold with his addition. Concurrently, the availability of MLB C.J. Mosley was too good an opportunity to pass up, prompting an immediate acquisition.
This pivotal moment led to a strategic shift in our defensive approach. With the confidence that DT Hankins possesses the versatility to excel as a Nose Tackle, and considering the adaptability of our Defensive Ends to fit a 3-4 scheme, the decision was clear. Moreover, the inclusion of another high-caliber MLB like Mosley only reinforced the necessity for this transition. The pieces were aligning, heralding a new era for our defense under the 3-4 system.
Key Trades
CB Josh Robinson Acquired
Attributes: SPD: 96, STR: 53, AWR: 86, AGI: 96, ACC: 98, CTH: 72, CAR: 60, JMP: 95, BTK: 38, TAK: 70
Ranked: 22nd among CBs
Trade Details: The Ravens landed Robinson and a 1st round pick in exchange for QB Tyler Thigpen, ranked 20th among QBs with attributes AWR: 95, THP: 85, THA: 93.
Insight: This blockbuster trade not only enhances the Ravens' secondary but also underscores a strategic pivot in their roster construction.
TE David Njoku Traded to the Chiefs
Outcome: Following the drafting of TE Dallas Goedert, the Ravens opted to trade Njoku to the Chiefs for a valuable 3rd round pick, marking the end of his tenure with the team.
RE Mario Edwards Jr. Moved to the Cowboys
Outcome: Edwards Jr. was traded to the Cowboys for a 3rd round pick, a move that had been in consideration and was finalized with the acquisition of Tuitt, signaling a new direction for the Ravens' defensive line.
Acknowledgments and Insights
A special nod of appreciation is extended to the champion, AF, not only for facilitating the trade but also for playing a pivotal role in the acquisition of CB Josh Robinson from the Seahawks. This deal is anticipated to be mutually beneficial, bolstering both teams with needed talents.
Closing Thoughts
The Ravens' offseason maneuvers reflect a thoughtful approach to team building and adaptation. With key additions across the defense and strategic trades that align with their new system, the Ravens are poised for a season where their revamped lineup and tactical shifts could very well redefine their competitive edge. |

Ravens' Draft Analysis |
Ravens' Draft Analysis: Strategic Additions with Potential Impact
The Baltimore Ravens' draft picks, analyzed through an innovative evaluation system, indicate a deliberate strategy aimed at bolstering the team's roster with a mix of talent. Below is a detailed breakdown of each drafted player, focusing on their journey from original attributes to their final attributes post-private workouts, complemented by a skew line highlighting the differences.
HB Phillip Lindsay (1.23)
Original Attributes: SPD: 97, STR: 72, AWR: 59, AGI: 94, ACC: 97, CTH: 73, CAR: 84, JMP: 69, BTK: 89
Private Workout: SPD: 95, STR: 73, AWR: 61, AGI: 94, ACC: 99, CTH: 76, CAR: 83, JMP: 69, BTK: 89
Final Attributes: SPD: 95 (-2), STR: 73 (+1), AWR: 61 (+2), AGI: 94 (=), ACC: 99 (+2), CTH: 74 (+1), CAR: 83 (-1), JMP: 69 (=), BTK: 89 (=)
Current Rank: 57th among HBs
Skew Line Analysis: Lindsay's slight decrease in speed is more than compensated by gains in strength, awareness, and a notable improvement in acceleration, fine-tuning his role as a versatile halfback.
Thoughts: Our goals were to draft either HB, WR, CB or MLB here. I felt like this HB pick has potentally the mose value from the needs I had. I was slighlty bummed by losing 2 SPD, but I made my peace with it. He might be little too light with 190 lbs, but I trust my evaluation. He will start immediately since I traded Beanie Wells to the Chargers.
TE Dallas Goedert (2.13)
Original Attributes: SPD: 90, STR: 58, AWR: 58, AGI: 74, ACC: 94, CTH: 77, CAR: 68, JMP: 77, BTK: 67, PBK: 47, RBK: 44
Private Workout:SPD: 85, STR: 56, AWR: 60, AGI: 78, ACC: 91, CTH: 77, CAR: 66, JMP: 77, BTK: 67, PBK: 49, RBK: 43
Final Attributes: SPD: 86 (-4), STR: 56 (-2), AWR: 60 (+2), AGI: 76 (+2), ACC: 90 (-4), CTH: 77 (=), CAR: 67 (-1), JMP: 77 (=), BTK: 67 (=), PBK: 47 (=), RBK: 43 (-1)
Current Rank: 36th among TEs
Skew Line Analysis: Goedert's modifications in speed and strenght really hurts him.
Thoughts: He was definately my main target for this pick, even with a negative skew. He is 6'5" slightly taller than Njoku was who I traded away after I made this pick since I see more in Goedert. I think at this point of the draft this was a quality pick.
LE Kemoko Turay (3.15 - Worst pick of the Ravens class)
Original Attributes: SPD: 76, STR: 83, AWR: 54, AGI: 66, ACC: 87, CTH: 55, CAR: 55, JMP: 72, BTK: 55, TAK: 67
Final Attributes: SPD: 74 (-2), STR: 83 (=), AWR: 55 (+1), AGI: 67 (+1), ACC: 86 (-1), CTH: 58 (+3), CAR: 55 (=), JMP: 72 (=), BTK: 55 (=), TAK: 67 (=)
Current Rank: 59th among LEs
Thoughts: Not sure what was I thinking here. I guess I really liked his ACC and STR, maybe a little too much. He will be a cheap sub until the end of his contract.
HB Royce Freeman (3.23)
Original Attributes: SPD: 86, STR: 76, AWR: 51, AGI: 92, ACC: 91, CTH: 74, CAR: 82, JMP: 81, BTK: 75
Private Workout: SPD: 87, STR: 74, AWR: 51, AGI: 92, ACC: 91, CTH: 76, CAR: 82, JMP: 84, BTK: 79
Final Attributes: SPD: 87 (+1), STR: 73 (-3), AWR: 51 (=), AGI: 92 (=), ACC: 91 (=), CTH: 74 (=), CAR: 82 (=), JMP: 82 (+1), BTK: 77 (+2)
Current Rank: 87th among HBs
Thoughts: I went BPA from all of the positions I needed extra players. He will be a quality sub to Lindsay longterm. I wish his strenght would of skewed up and not down.
QB Kyle Lauletta (6.13)
Original Attributes: AWR: 51, THP: 76, THA: 94
Final Attributes: AWR: 51 (=), THP: 75 (-1), THA: 92 (-2)
Current Rank: 98th among QBs
Thoughts: According to my evaluation for QBs does not need much THP. Now I'm not sure where the cutoff is, but I'm pretty sure it is above or around 80. I really liked his THA and I needed a sub QB.
DT Sebastian Joseph-Day (6.23)
Original Attributes: SPD: 62, STR: 83, AWR: 50, AGI: 71, ACC: 73, CTH: 49, CAR: 40, JMP: 55, BTK: 47, TAK: 70
Final Attributes: SPD: 66 (+4), STR: 83 (=), AWR: 50 (=), AGI: 72 (+1), ACC: 73 (=), CTH: 47 (-2), CAR: 40 (=), JMP: 59 (+4), BTK: 47 (=), TAK: 72 (+2)
Current Rank: 114th among DTs
Thoughts: I needed a DT as well. He will be sub, especially in my new 3-4 system where hopefully he will never plays.
Overall, I feel half empty after this draft. I get my starters mostly from the drafts and I got 2 from this one, while the latter rounds were less of a success. |
