The reclusive GM of the Seattle Seahawks has called a presss conference for his official response to the Superbowl loss suffered just a short time ago.
GM Rock shuffles into the room. 6'4" of chiseled Canadian Beef, days unshaven wearing a stanined plaid bath robe and tissue boxes on his feet.
He steps up to the podium clears his throat and gives the following statment,
"Ahem. FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!"

SEAHAWKS TRADE FOR PICK 1.03 |
Hello all,
well the Seahawks made a splash in the trade market on the eve of the SFL draft. We traded out two first round picks and promising CB Williams to the Browns for pick 1.03.
So how and why did this happen? Did we feel the need to trade up for the pick with a particular player of need in mind?
Well no we didn't.
This transaction literally fell into our laps. We had not contacted anyone about trading up and really hadn't entertained the thought of doing so.
Now the price was fairly steep. We don't mind losing the later first round picks. We would have for sure found a pair of starters with those picks but they would have been lower end guys. Pick 1.03 gives us an opportunity to get one elite guy at an important position.
The part of the deal that hurt was losing CB Tramon Williams. You remember him don't you? He was the guy that I was criticised for taking in the draft instead of a player that could "help me now" keep my team. Well guess what? He has turned into an elite prospect. So suck on that league!
We had been grooming Williams to eventually take over as our #2 corner. But as it turns out the draft after that we picked up CB Houston who has similar abilities and will be groomed to take the #2 sport on our defense. So we had a position of strength so making the move was palatable.
So why do it? Because we could. And like it was said earlier it fell into our lap.
So yeah.. we have our eyes on the two elite WRs, the stop CB and that guy Chris Long. But it is entirely possible we go with another player. It will all come down to the skew.

SEAHAWKS 2007 DRAFT |
Hello all,
Been a while since I wrote anything? that is they way things go sometimes.
So let?s get onto talk about the 2007 SFL Entry Draft. But first perhaps we should say a few words about the 2006 SFL draft. You remember that draft don?t you? That was the one where I drafted a Olineman and corner in the first found. Experts around the league seemed to be shocked that I took who I thought was the best player available instead of taking players who could help me now.
Well here is where I stand on that: When you make decisions based on being a fucking pussy it will ALWAYS come to bite you in the ass. I took the guys who when their second contract comes up they will be some of the best players in the league. I wasn?t being short sited and panicking. I was walking with a big pair of balls stuffed into my pants. So enough about 2006, my 12-4 record and my beat down of the NFC West.
The 2007 draft comes around and we have a first round pick. We dealt our second to the Cardinals to get SS Antoine Bethea who was just coming off the first year of his rookie deal. We then dealt stud LT Walter Jones for a third because he was in the last year of his deal and we weren?t going to resign him. So a late first and a pair of thirds was what we had going in. Here is who we took:
1.28 OC Dustin Fry ? There were a bunch of quality Olineman in the draft. The true studs had been picked by the time we got to the table. We ended up taking Fry who is high quality in every are but RBK and PBK. Those are both progressionable so we didn?t worry about it too much. In a few seasons we have managed to revamp our Olineman with our kind of players. Our QB?s and HB?s will be thanking us shortly.
3.27 CB Chris Houston ? Everyone seems to jizz their pants over 6 foot corners. For me if you can?t run with the top wide receivers then you are fucking useless. Houston is under 6 foot but has solid athleticism that will only get better with the rookie and sophomore progression. He?s raw but isn?t going to be better than a dime corner for at least this season so he will have sheltered minutes in his rookie season. Happy he was here to pick.
3.28 WR Steve Smith ? The draft was actually pretty deep in a lot of areas. When we got to this pick we were looking at a few wide receivers. Most had some standout attribute but we found Smith to be an all-rounder. And one who might actually be able to catch a football. Could even start the year as our X receiver but we shall see. Happy to get at least a trips receiver this late in the draft.
4.28 HB Justise Hairston ? When you get into the late 4th round we start looking for players who if they skew the right way could end up being freaks that could help us out. Hairston was one of those guys we took a shot on. With 95 SPD and 94 ACC we figured if nothing else he could become a change of pace back. He might even get some punt / kick return duties some time down the road.
5.28 ? WR Yamon Figurs ? At this point I was picking for specific position to enhance our depth. We were hoping for a better skew but Figurs didn?t help us much. Not big, not fast but he has a pulse and that is fine for now.
6.28 DT Antonio Johnson ? I like my mens to have some BEEF. And that is exactly what AJ brings to the table. 328 LBS with 97 STR? That man is at worst a back up nose tackle for us. Raw as all get out but that is what you draft late in the 6th round.
7.28 Nick Folk ? I?m always happy when I can pick up a starter in the 7th round. Don?t need no bitch diamond in the rough bullshit to find my own gems! Average leg and shit accuracy. I have a long, long, long, long, long history of drafting inaccurate kickers and making them solid. It may take preseason and the first half of the regular season but by about halfway he will be an ok kicker. By next season he will be solid.
So there it is. Two trades 7 picks and we are ready to pick up from where we left off last season. We aren?t so clueless that we think we can get 12 wins again. That took some high level bed-shitting from the rest of the NFC West. That and we are planning on getting backup QB Chris Simms some reps. Hasselback just finally got good but he?s half way old so his future replacement needs to be groomed.

2004 SFL SEAHAWKS DRAFT |
In my lengthy Madden career I do not have a lot of experience picking in the top half of the draft. But that is exactly where we found ourselves in the SFL 2004 Entry Draft. We had pick 1.13 and we must say that it was a disappointing experience? not the draft, but the pick.
We were excited initially we had a few players picked out that we figured if they fell to use we would be very excited. Then our turn to pick came up and we ran the perspective players through our workouts? and they ALL skewed down but one. FUCK!
We looked at CB DeAngelo Hall and honestly he was going to be our guy? but he skewed down. Then we had RG Shawn Andrews and he skewed down. Now we were starting to get worried. We looked at HB Cedric Hobbs who looked ok but we already had Alexander who is a total stud so this wouldn?t have been a great pick for us? but we almost did it anyway and then would trade Alexander. We looked at CB Greg Brooks who looked ok but not great. We even hit up TE Benjamin Watson who looked great! But we didn?t think taking a TE in the top half was worth the pick.
This thing happened at each of our top 3 picks. So we were happy with who we ended up with but not ecstatic because our top guys pre-draft just didn?t pan out.
Who we picked:
1.13 RG Shawn Andrews ? Even skewed down we knew he would come out fine and be a solid pick. So picked up Andrews and he will start right away. Extremely athletic and stupidly sized at 366 lbs this beast will be our RG for the next 10 seasons likely

2.13 ROLB Richard Seigler ? Again after working out few players we had ranked higher we ended up pulling the trigger on Seigler. We didn?t really need another linebacker but his athleticism couldn?t be ignored and we need speedy linebackers to play our defense.

3.13 HB Derrick Knight ? we always like to have one stupidly fast half back to provide at least a bit of a change of pace running in a game, or to be a kick returner. Knight is extremely athletic and dumb as a post. Not sure how much playing time he?ll see this first season. Long term he will get used once we find a spot for him.

4.13 WR Samie Parker ? He was one of the best prospects left when we came to this spot so we picked him up. Destined to be a fourth or fifth wideout for us he runs well enough that he could move up in the lineup if we have injuries at wide receiver. Not big and not smart we could see how a lot of teams could overlook him we felt he would provide solid depth for us in the future.

5.13 ROLB Darrell McClover ? we actually had no plans to grab another linebacker in the draft but couldn?t resist taking him at this pick. He was our highest rated player on the board and should provide solid depth at OLB. He could even find a start depending on what we do with our veteran linebackers moving forward.

6.13 TE Kris Wilson ? Was really just a depth pick to help fill out the roster. Turns out he actually has some skills. Could potentially be the guy who plays in our 2 Tight End sets.

7.13 LE Reggie Torbor ? We needed defensive end depth and Reggie was the best player left on the board. He doesn?t fit our mold for a starting defensive end on our defense? but should be just fine working in special teams. Ok athleticism for a 7th round pick.

We came into the 2004 SFL Draft hoping to swing for the fences and find some playmakers for the team. Instead we found disappoint prospects fucking up my draft. We found some okay guys and for sure RG Andrews will be a starter for a long time. We don?t feel we hit any home runs with our picks which is kind of what we try and do each draft.
It is only our second draft in the SFL and GM Rock has yet to find his way in them. The first draft we picked in a slightly better spot at 1.10 and we had a second pick later in the first round. We came away with stud wide receiver David Tyree and raw but athletic corner Drayton Florence. That is a pair we can build our franchise around. Picking RG Andrews in this draft is not at the same level as those two picks. Hopefully we can find some momentum this season and then grind out another draft with picks we are happier taking than in this one. |
